I started private sessions with Pilates With Purpose after having my son. I was struggling with my core strength and finding it hard on my back always having to hold and feed him. During the birth of my first baby and the recovery period I encountered challenges I had never experienced before – both physically and emotionally. I was very lucky that I had support to get to a pilates class twice a week to help me recover from my emergency caesarean. Many of the mums in my mother’s group were quite envious of this and wished that they had similar support. So I turned my passion for pilates classes and my desire to help other women into a business. We have had a fantastic experience with Pilates teaching in our home. During my pregnancy my husband developed a very painful back problem and after the arrival of our son, his difficulties in carrying and sitting down with him as well as bending over for nappy changes etc inspired him to make some changes. I was also interested in post birth recovery and so after looking around at nearby pilates studios and class timetables, to find schedules for both of us, juggling babycare during evenings and weekends we discovered Pilates With Purpose via a mum’s Facebook group recommendation. Our excellent teachers were able to tailor classes to meet our different needs and we have found the flexibility to schedule a class (or massage!) during the evenings at home when our baby is (hopefully) asleep has worked really well. We also save time as there’s no travel involved and doing our classes together has been great fun and a very cost effective way to benefit from high quality tailored Pilates teaching.
